Historical places of Malaysia



This time we'll take you to visit and get to know the historic places in Malaysia.


Most of these sites are the remnants of historical remains in the past. Moreover, in the past the position of Malaya (Malaysia) which makes it a strategic focus for merchants, scholars and even invaders.




LEMBAH BUJANG





• It is one of the oldest historical remains ever recorded in South East Asia.

Ancient temple called ‘Chandi’ shows in the early centuries AD, Lembah Bujang had once become a major maritime port and traded between a number of countries such as China and India.

Similarly Lembah Bujang is good for study related visits and it is convenient place to visit.

Also the examples of the old artifacts in Lembah Bujang are hundreds of thousands of pieces of ceramics, glass and beads from all over the country.


ISTANA LAMA SERI MENANTI






Located in Kuala Pilah and it became the official residence of the Yang-Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan since the 1900s.

The building was inspired by Minangkabau architecture.

Istana Lama Seri Menanti was built between 1902 until 1908, it was built using wood and was consists of 99 pillars which include 4 poles in series.

The uniqueness of this traditional palace is no nails were used in the construction. Instead of nails, spikes that were made of wood were used to bind the wooden structure of the palace.

On 14 July 1992, the palace was converted to Royal Museum that houses several historical artifacts.
 



KOTA BELANDA (THE DUTCH FORT)







Located in Pulau Pangkor, Perak. Kota Belanda was built by the Dutch in 1670 and it was used as a fortress to protect tin supplies of tin that were gathered from Sultanate of Perak.
It was a remnant of the days of Dutch colonialism in the past.

• Around the area, it is surrounded by souvenir shops and food outlets. These have been set up for visitors and today, it is one of the most popular tourist attraction on the island.

As the most visited place in Pulau Pangkor, it will be crowded with tourist especially in the school holidays and weekends.
 



BUKIT MELAWATI (MELAWATI HILLS)








Located in Kuala Selangor, Selangor

The fort is strategically located at the confluence of Selangor, overlooking the Straits of Malacca and Sumatra, Indonesia.

It is an attractive recreational area and equipped with various of facilities for visitors

Among the specialties here is the lighthouse, several old cannons, and a royal tomb, a stone that once used for beheading.
 



KOTA A FAMOSA







  It has been built by the Portuguese once they captured Malacca in 1511.

A Famosa is located in Bandar Hilir, Melaka next to a replica of the Malacca Sultanate Palace and the Church of St. Paul. It is the oldest European architectural remains in Asia.

At the end of November 2006, one of the part of the structure which is believed to be Fort Middleburgh was found by accident during the construction of the 110m tower in the city of Malacca

Being a major tourist destination, it is a must seeing site when visiting city of Malacca.
